Additional Georgia Employers Must Use E-Verify
Starting July 1, 2012, Georgia employers with 100 or more employees must enroll in and use E-Verify for new hires. Employers must plan ahead for E-Verify enrollment and mandatory training, so they are ready to put the program into use on July 1.
This is the second prong of the staggered effective dates for E-Verify usage imposed by Georgia’s HB87, the “Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011.” Georgia employers with 500 or more employees are already required to use E-Verify and all Georgia employers with more than 10 employees will have to use E-Verify starting July 1, 2013.
