Significant momentum continues to build for bold initiatives to scale-up watershed restoration. We are pleased to invite you to participate in this interactive forum to learn more about evolving conservation practices and agricultural markets and the opportunities that such programs present. Guest speakers include former Secretary of USDA and Governor of North Dakota, Ed Schafer, former USDA Undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs and Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service , Bruce Knight, CEO of Bion, Dominic Bassani, and a representative from the Environmental Defense Fund. The event is co-hosted by the U.S. Water Alliance’s Business Advisory Council and the National Water Quality Trading Alliance.
Market-based approaches to conservation remain a cost-effective method to achieve environmental goals and sustain working and natural landscapes. Over the last two years, the U.S. Water Alliance has convened the Mississippi River Nutrient Dialogues to highlight common ground and innovative strategies among agriculture and water and wastewater utilities to reduce nutrient pollution in the Mississippi River Basin. The Dialogues culminated in a final report issued August 22. The report identified nutrient trading as presenting an opportunity to align incentives with desired outcomes.
