Albemarle Acquires Rockwood Holdings
Troutman Sanders was mentioned in several January 12 articles (Bloomberg Businessweek, 4-traders, ABC 4, and Hydrocarbon Processing) about Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based chemical maker Albemarle completing its $6.2 billion acquisition of rival New Jersey-based chemical company Rockwood Holdings pursuant to the terms of their previously announced July 15, 2014 Agreement and Plan of Merger. Both entities produce lithium, catalysts, bromine and surface treatment chemicals. Albemarle paid $50.65 in cash and 0.4803 of a share of its common stock for each share of Rockwood common stock.
Richmond partners John Owen Gwathmey, David Carter and Richmond associate Doug Boyle advised Albemarle in the deal.
