Albemarle, Rockwood deal gets shareholder nod
Troutman Sanders was mentioned in a November 17 M&A Navigator article about Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based chemical maker Albemarle announcing its $6.2 billion acquisition of rival New Jersey-based chemical company Rockwood Holdings receiving approval from both companies’ stockholders. Both entities produce lithium, catalysts, bromine and surface treatment chemicals. Albemarle will pay $50.65 in cash and 0.4803 of a share of its common stock for each share of Rockwood common stock. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
Richmond partners John Owen Gwathmey, David Carter and Richmond associate Doug Boyle advised Albemarle in the deal.
