Ashley L. Taylor, Jr. Appointed to U.S. Commission on Civil Rights by President Bush
RICHMOND, VA (December 14, 2004) . . . . The law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce President Bush has appointed Ashley L. Taylor, Jr. to the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights.
The Commission is composed of eight individuals, four of whom are appointed by the President and four by Congress. The commissioners serve a term of six years and generally meet one day a month in Washington, D.C. As a commissioner,
Mr. Taylor will testify frequently before Congress and provide members of Congress with recommendations regarding federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to equal protection issues.
Mr. Taylor will maintain his active practice with Troutman Sanders, focusing on employment law, complex litigation, and counseling clients in multi-state investigations and compliance with state consumer protection laws.

Mr. Taylor is a member of the Troutman Sanders Executive Committee and a partner in Complex Litigation practice group in the firm's Richmond office. He joined Troutman Sanders in 2001, bringing international recognition as the
American Bar Association (State and Local Government Section) "Up and Comer" of 1999. Previously, he served as Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Health, Education and Social Services - a position he attained by
age 29. As Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Taylor supervised 47 attorneys and 13 administrative personnel, providing counsel to 20 agencies and the Offices of the Secretary of Health and Human Resources and the Secretary of Education.
