‘Breakdown’ finale: Justice for Donna Brown
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution aired its final podcast in its Breakdown series – Murder Below the Gnat Line. The podcast explores the murder of 40-year-old Donna Brown, who was shot in a Taco Bell parking lot in Adel, Ga. in 1998. Devonia Inman was convicted of the murder, but, as the podcast reveals, now has a compelling case for a new trial. Associate Tiffany Bracewell is interviewed about Troutman Sanders’ pro-bono work related to the case, including recent efforts to meet with jurors from Mr. Inman’s trial. She says, “We went on a Saturday and a Monday – a targeted attack – we had four or five teams leave Atlanta at 5 or 6 in the morning. Over the course of two days, four jurors invited us into their homes… We did learn a few curious details that piqued our interest from an irregularities standpoint. I don’t know that we got our silver bullet, but we are looking to go back and speak to a lot of these folks… because there could be opportunities to learn more.”
