Cornelius (“Neil”) R. O'Brien Joins Troutman Sanders’ Richmond Office
RICHMOND, Va. – January 22, 2013 - The law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce the addition of partner Cornelius (“Neil”) R. O'Brien to its multifamily housing group in Richmond.
Prior to joining Troutman Sanders, O'Brien was Associate General Counsel at Fannie Mae, where he represented Fannie Mae in connection with multifamily financing and had substantial interaction with DUS lenders. He managed legal aspects of underwriting, loan origination, structured debt, maturity management, loan documentation and asset management for multifamily operations. At Troutman Sanders, O'Brien will apply his extensive industry knowledge in representing and counseling numerous national multifamily lenders. The firm's multifamily housing group is recognized for significant expertise in multifamily financing transactions and servicing matters, including complex bond transactions, seniors housing transactions, negotiated multi-property pool transactions, affordable housing transactions, and other unique structures.
O'Brien has also held the position of Vice President and Associate General Counsel at American Business Financial Services, Inc., where he developed and maintained federal and state regulatory compliance systems and organizational compliance systems for residential and commercial mortgage lending operations.
O'Brien received a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1990, and both an M.B.A. and a B.S.C. from Rider University in 1981 and 1978, respectively. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is also a Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountant.
