DHS Designates E-Verify as Employment Eligibility Verification System for all Federal Contractors
E-Verify is a voluntary, internet-based system operated by USCIS, in partnership with the Social Security Administration, that allows employers to verify employment eligibility of new hires. In addition to the use of the E-Verify system and compliance with its regulations, employers must still comply with I-9 Employment Verification requirements.
Starting September 8, 2009, all federal solicitations and contract awards Government-wide will be required to use the E-Verify system to verify the employment eligibility of workers. This executive order mandates E-Verify for all federal contractors with government contracts.
