Don’t Be A Lumbergh: Managerial Mistakes to Avoid to Minimize Risk of Employment Lawsuits
Associate Evan Gibbs’ bi-weekly column in Above the Law uses Bill Lumbergh, the hated boss from the movie Office Space, to provide managerial lessons that could help minimize risk for employment lawsuits. Gibbs writes about Lumbergh micromanaging and being insincere and passive-aggressive. He writes, “Whether we’re managers or not, I think we can all learn a lot from Lumbergh. When we sincerely and directly communicate with one another and trust each other as professionals, everyone benefits; a lot more work gets done, and it gets done better. I believe this increases employee morale and satisfaction, and will indirectly reduce the risk of employment lawsuits.”
