E-Discovery: Don’t Hate It, Embrace It
Troutman Sanders partner and Managing Director of eMerge Alison Grounds had her article discussing the benefits of e-Discovery in litigation matters published in the Daily Report on December 19. In her essay, Grounds explores the changing landscape of document review and the need for electronic discovery in litigation.
“The only reason to add the ‘e’ to discovery is to remind people that the electronic data requires some unique legal and technical considerations,” she writes. Grounds argues that e-discovery makes life “easier” for lawyers in several ways, including time savings, better client satisfaction and by providing a more efficient vehicle to search for information. Grounds indicates that not every matter will need the “full-on technology toys and bells and whistles” and discusses how lawyers can help determine if e-discovery is appropriate for a particular matter.
