E-Verify Records Older than 10 Years to be Deleted Permanently Beginning in 2015
On 1/1/2015, USCIS will delete from its system any E-Verify records more than 10 years old. This means that any cases that were created before 1/1/2005 will be permanently removed from its database. This action is being taken in compliance with National Archives and Records Administration’s information retention policy, which requires that USCIS dispose of records more than 10 years old in order to minimize security and privacy risks that come with the U.S. government’s retention of Personal and Identifiable Information (PII). The disposal process will occur annually on January 1 of each year.
Employers who began using E-Verify before 1/1/2005 are strongly advised to download the Historic Records Report. It will be available until 12/31/2014 only.
