Firm's rulemaking petition with the SEC gets media attention
Troutman Sanders filed a conflict minerals rulemaking petition with the SEC on September 11 that garnered media mentions in Bloomberg BNA, Compliance Week,
Crain’s Detroit Business and
World News. The petition, authored by Atlanta partner Brink Dickerson, is seeking disclosure alternatives to those established by rules regarding the use of “conflict minerals” and up to a two-year deferral.
To read the petition in full, visit the SEC’s
website or the firm’s
website.
Along the same topic, Brink was quoted in an October 1 Compliance Week article – “
Want to Change an SEC Rule? Petition the Commission” – and authored an October 3 op-ed piece for CFO titled “Execs Should Fight SEC ‘Conflict Minerals’ Rule.”
“Companies need to take a more active role in commenting on such rules and not rely on their trade associations to carry the load,” he contends in the CFO op-ed.
