The LAWS - Legal Association for Woman Students at Emory Law will hold its annual LAWS conference on February 1, 2014. This year’s theme is “Will Leaning In Shatter The Glass Ceiling?”
The keynote address will be delivered by Lilly Ledbetter. Ms. Ledbetter is an activist for women's rights and economic empowerment. She notably helped pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009, which was the first piece
of legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama.
Other speakers include Emory's Dean, Robert Schapiro; Dean of Students, Katherine Brokaw; as well as a diverse range of panelists from Atlanta's legal and professional communities, including Troutman Sanders partner Seth
Ford, who will present on "The Current State of Employment Discrimination."
The conference will feature four panels on various topics ranging from work/life balance; issues facing the LGBT community, as well as other minority groups; women as corporate leaders; and the current state of employment discrimination.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and registration is free. We are committed to making this event free because LAWS feels that a discussion on empowering the next generation of female professionals should be accessible to all.
If you would like to make a donation in support of LAWS to help offset the costs of the conference, you may do so at the conference during registration.
