Southern Buys Texas Solar Project from Recurrent Energy
A team of Troutman Sanders lawyers – Rich Brody, Brian Harms, John Leonti, Randy Brogdon, Angela Levin, John Buehner and Melissa Baratian – were mentioned in a December 1 The Deal article for counseling Southern Co. in a transaction where it bought controlling interest in the 157-megawatt Roserock solar facility in Texas from Canadian Solar Inc.’s Recurrent Energy for an undisclosed sum. Recurrent is keeping the remaining interest in the project.
This is Southern Co.’s first solar project in Texas and it will help further the company’s wholesale business and expand its solar footprint. The plant will generate enough solar energy to power 30,000 homes. The electricity and renewable energy credits will be sold under a 20-year agreement with Austin Energy.
