Troutman Sanders will host students from Henry W. Grady High School to conclude an educational law program with an all-day conference on April 29 at its Atlanta headquarters.
The program and conference are part of a partnership between Troutman Sanders, Henry W. Grady High School, and Street Law, Inc. – a nonprofit organization that designs classroom and community education programs that teach young people about law and government.
The Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program is a joint initiative of Street Law and the Association of Corporate Counsel to tackle the dearth of diversity in the legal profession. Teams of attorneys and other legal professionals from participating companies and law firms are paired with a nearby, diverse high school class. They visit the classroom and host students at Troutman Sanders’ headquarters in order to encourage young people of color to pursue legal careers and provide them with role-models, career education, and hands-on experiences in the field of law.
The student conference is the culmination of a multi-week program in which Troutman Sanders’ legal department taught students about contracts, sexual harassment and copyrights. It will reinforce the students’ lessons with interactive workshops and give them a glimpse into legal practice.
