Summary judgment granted to Scientific-Atlanta (now Cisco Systems)
Atlanta partner Doug Henderson’s big win for Scientific-Atlanta (now Cisco Systems) in an Alabama federal court made news June 4 in a Law360.Com
article.
After 10 years of litigation, which included the completion of 140 depositions and two trips to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the court granted summary judgment to Scientific-Atlanta, the last holdout who was facing a three-month
trial in 2013, on claims Scientific-Atlanta had contributed to PCB and lead contamination in the Anniston, Alabama area. As noted in the feature article, Solutia sought to impose joint and several liability on Scientific-Atlanta
for more than $600 million in environmental recovery costs.
