Troutman Sanders Adds Corporate Group in Charlotte
Charlotte, NC – March 3, 2015 – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that the firm has expanded its corporate practice in Charlotte with the addition of an experienced team of lawyers. Chad Warpula and Kevin Christmas, both partners, as well as Brandon Woods and Chris Hartsfield, have joined Troutman Sanders from K&L Gates.
Troutman Sanders opened its office in Charlotte with five partners on May 16, 2014. Today’s announcement brings the total number of lawyers in Charlotte to 19.
“When we opened our doors in Charlotte less than a year ago, we said that we intended to quickly expand the office, and the addition of Chad, Kevin and their team is an integral part of our growth strategy,” said Robert W. Webb, Jr., Chairman of Troutman Sanders. “This is a dynamic and entrepreneurial group, and we are confident that they will add significant value as we continue to enhance the scope of services provided by our team in Charlotte.”
Warpula’s practice, while focused primarily on corporate and transactional law, encompasses a broad array of disciplines. He has significant experience in M&A, joint ventures, licensing, sports and entertainment, and intellectual property matters. Warpula also leads an international contract management practice for several global clients. He was formerly the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
Christmas, a North Carolina native who practiced previously in Philadelphia, focuses his practice on representing public and private companies in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, financing transactions and general corporate matters. His practice includes advising clients on the full life cycle of business issues, from company formation to exit strategies.
“Our plan for the Charlotte office has always been to feature a full-service practice, and the arrival of this corporate group moves us closer to the realization of that objective,” said Stephen E. Lewis, Managing Partner of Troutman Sanders. “Chad and Kevin both have great reputations in this market, and we are proud to add them as partners.”
“Having worked in the past with Chad and Kevin as colleagues and partners, I know well the immense talent and dedication they each bring to their roles as lawyers,” said Walter Fisher, Managing Partner of the firm’s Charlotte office. “Their practices fit perfectly with the core strengths of our firm and the continued growth of the Charlotte office. I’m delighted that this group has joined us.”
Warpula received his undergraduate degree from Harding University, while Christmas graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both received their J.D. degrees from Wake Forest University School of Law.
“We are excited to rejoin our former colleagues. The opportunity to be a part of Troutman Sanders’ success story in Charlotte is very appealing,” said Warpula. “The culture of collegiality and commitment to client service at Troutman Sanders is important to us, and we are looking forward to getting to work.”
