Troutman Sanders Adds to IP Practice in Richmond
Richmond, VA. – January 9, 2015 – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Chris Forstner has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice as Of Counsel in Richmond. Forstner was previously a partner at Murphy & McGonigle in Richmond.
From 2005-2010, Forstner served as the Assistant General Counsel and Chief IP Counsel for Capital One, where he managed the company’s intellectual property litigation, including patent, trade secret and restrictive covenants disputes. He also managed the company’s worldwide patent and trademark portfolios. Prior to joining Capital One, Forstner, a registered U.S. patent attorney, focused his practice on prosecuting patents, managing IP portfolios and assisting in patent litigation on behalf of various national and international clients.

Forstner currently serves as a board member and officer of the Virginia State Bar’s Intellectual Property Law Section, a member of the United States–European Patent Office Bar Liaison Council, and has been active in a variety of organizations, including the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Association.
Forstner received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and is a graduate of the William & Mary Law School.
