Troutman Sanders’ Client EPRI Wins Water Quality Trading Project Award
RICHMOND, Va. – April 17, 2015 – Troutman Sanders LLP congratulates its client, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), for winning the 2015 United States Water Prize. The prize recognizes EPRI’s collaborative efforts to build the world’s largest and nation’s first interstate water quality trading project to reduce nutrients in the Ohio River Basin. Troutman Sanders is proud to have served as counsel to the project since its inception.
“This prize validates EPRI’s leadership role in environmental markets,” said Brooks Smith, a partner in the firm’s Environmental and Natural Resources practice. “These markets are vital to achieving our nation’s water quality goals and can help to accelerate the pace and scale of restoration efforts. We applaud EPRI for bringing such a rigorous scientific focus to the Ohio River Basin project, and for its commitment to collaboration with all interested stakeholders – industries, farmers, local governments, states, EPA, USDA and environmental groups.”
EPRI received the prize on April 13 at a ceremony at the National Geographic Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Further information about the event can be found on the U.S. Water Alliance website. Additional information on the project can be found on EPRI’s website.
