Troutman Sanders Expands New York Office with New Financial Services Litigation Partner
NEW YORK – March 20, 2014 – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Debbie Reperowitz has joined the firm’s Financial Services Litigation practice in New York. Prior to joining Troutman Sanders, Debbie was a partner at Reed Smith, Chief Litigation Counsel at CIT Group Inc. and General Counsel at Fairholme Capital Management.
Reperowitz has experience in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, business restructuring and bankruptcy. She has appeared in federal courts throughout the United States, representing clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, real estate and manufacturing. Reperowitz also has assisted clients in the out-of-court resolution of business and financial issues, and is listed on the roster of mediators maintained by the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
“Debbie’s experience, both in house and in private practice, on such a wide variety of high-profile matters will further strengthen our practice in New York,” said David Anthony, a partner in Troutman Sanders’ Financial Services Litigation practice. “She has a stellar reputation within the financial institution community, and we are looking forward to putting her experience to work for our clients.”
Reperowitz joins Troutman Sanders during a time of significant expansion in the firm’s New York office. She is the eighth lateral partner to join the New York office since January 2013.
“Troutman Sanders’ excellent reputation, particularly in the financial services industry, coupled with its commitment to firm culture and the communities in which it resides are unmatched, and I am excited to join the expanding New York office and Financial Services Litigation Team,” said Reperowitz.
“Debbie’s arrival is a great addition for us in New York,” said David Dantzler, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We are continuing to build a strong national team focusing on the services we offer financial institution clients, and we feel that Debbie’s arrival further solidifies that practice in this market.”
After receiving her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, Debbie served as law clerk to the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Jersey. She currently is a member of the board of directors of the New York Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, and the vice president of programming. She also is a member of the board of directors of Day One, a not-for-profit organization that partners with New York City youth to end dating abuse and domestic violence through community education, supportive services, legal advocacy and leadership development.
