Troutman Sanders Hosts Attorney General for Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Promotion
ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP today welcomed Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr and members of the legal community to promote the 2018 Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Competition. The annual competition encourages attorneys across the state to raise food and funds for Georgia’s eight regional food banks, which serve about 156,500 people each week. Collections are donated to the regional food bank that serves each competitor’s respective community.
“We were honored to host Attorney General Chris Carr and members of the legal community today, as we came together to raise awareness about food insecurity in our region,” said James Stevens, a partner in Troutman Sanders’ Financial Institutions practice who helped host the event. “This particular fundraising event allows us to tap into our natural competitiveness in a way that benefits our local community. We are proud to participate each year.”
"Our legal community is fired up to start this year's Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, thanks in large part to our new Legal Food Frenzy Task Force," said Attorney General Carr. "We greatly appreciate Troutman Sanders for hosting this year's inaugural Kick-Off Luncheon, and we look forward to seeing who comes out on top in this year's competition."
The Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is a partnership between the Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Food Bank Association. This year’s competition will take place from April 16-27 and is open to everyone in the legal community.
One in four children in Georgia are food insecure, and nearly 60 percent of Georgia’s public school students are eligible for either a free or reduced lunch each day; however, fewer than 15 percent have access to the lunch program during the summer. The competition is timed to help the food banks go into summer strong and well-stocked to meet the increased demand for food.
