Troutman Sanders Of Counsel Lisa Hardie Confirmed to Oregon Public Utility Commission
Portland, OR - Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Lisa Hardie, an energy lawyer based in the firm’s Portland office, has been confirmed by the Oregon Senate to the Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC). Governor Kate Brown appointed Hardie to the position and designated her as PUC Chair after her confirmation.
The Oregon PUC is responsible for regulating consumer rates and services of the state's investor-owned electric, natural gas, telephone utilities, and certain water companies.
“Lisa has been a trusted advisor to her clients and a pleasure to work with over the years,” said Lara Skidmore, the managing partner of the firm’s Portland office. “She is a natural leader with the experience and skills to be successful as Chair of the Oregon Public Utility Commission. We wish her the best.”
As Of Counsel with Troutman Sanders, Hardie advised electric and natural gas companies on a variety of regulatory and litigation matters, and has represented clients in contested-case hearings and litigation before the Oregon Public Utility Commission.
Prior to joining Troutman Sanders in 2013, Hardie served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Oregon PUC. She presided over contested case hearings, rulemakings, and regulatory dockets, providing insight and legal analysis on key issues before the Commission. Hardie also spent time as a Briefing Attorney with the Third Court of Appeals of Texas, before moving to Heller Ehrman LLP, and then Fulbright & Jaworski LLP.
“My positive experience at Troutman Sanders has paved the way for this next step in my career,” said Oregon Public Utility Commission Chair Hardie. “I am looking forward to working with my fellow commissioners to fulfill our mission of balancing consumer protection, reliability and affordable utility services.”
Hardie earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, and a Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Texas School of Law, Austin.
