Troutman Sanders Wins Three M&A Atlas Awards
ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP has received three M&A Atlas Awards from the Global M&A Network. The firm was named in the Outstanding Firms category as the U.S.A. M&A Law Firm of the Year and had two deals recognized as Deals of the Year.
Client Windstream Holdings, Inc. won the U.S.A. M&A Deal of the Year award, and client Southern Company won the U.S.A. Deal of the Year (Above $5 billion) award. The independent awards honor excellence from the North and South Americas mid-market segments. Winners were honored at a Nov. 2 awards gala in New York.
U.S.A. M&A Deal of the Year | Middle Markets
Troutman Sanders’ client, Windstream Holdings, Inc., won the U.S.A. M&A Deal of the Year award for its $227.5 million acquisition of Broadview Networks Holdings, Inc. Windstream is a leading provider of advanced network
communications and technology solutions for consumers, businesses, enterprise organizations and wholesale customers nation-wide. Broadview provides cloud-based unified communications solutions to small and medium-sized businesses.
Troutman Sanders advised Windstream on the all-cash deal.

U.S.A. Deal of the Year | Above $5 billion
Client Southern Company won the U.S.A. Deal of the Year (Above $5 billion) award for its acquisition of AGL Resources, the largest natural gas only distribution company in the U.S. AGL Resources is now a wholly owned subsidiary of
Southern Company, which has 11 electric and natural gas utilities with operations across the U.S. Troutman Sanders advised Southern Company on due diligence, regulatory, tax, corporate disclosure and finance matters relating to the
transaction. Despite the complexity of the transaction, the deal closed in less than a year.
