Retired Partner
Prior to his retirement, Bob Grout was a senior partner with Troutman Pepper. His specialties and areas of concentration included mergers and acquisitions and business organizations and reorganizations, particularly the acquisition or disposition of non-publicly held companies, both domestic and foreign; the negotiation and structuring of domestic and foreign joint ventures and partnerships; and the representation of early-stage businesses in the procurement of capital and other funds. Bob concentrated his practice in the specialty area of acquisitions (stock purchases, asset purchases and mergers), with emphasis on early stage legal needs (initial negotiations, letter of intent, negotiation of the transaction structure and negotiation of terms of the definitive agreement). He also counseled businesses in all phases of the commercial process.
Bob also devoted a significant portion of his practice to the general representation of the affairs of business clients, with emphasis on corporate planning, developing strategies in various types of negotiated corporate and financial transactions and managing the relationships between and among management, directors, shareholders, partners and members in corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.
