Dan Waltz is an attorney in the firm’s Insurance and Business Litigation practices, where he handles complex insurance coverage litigation, complex business litigation and general commercial litigation. He has broad general litigation experience in many areas of law, and has litigated in various jurisdictions and venues throughout Illinois.
Prior to joining Troutman Sanders, he was a litigation associate at a large national firm where his practice focused on defense of individuals and corporations. He also provided advice to corporations and individuals on navigating matters involving state and local governmental agencies, state tax law, and recovery of payments owed by the government under service provider contracts.
He also served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where he defended various State agencies in complex litigation seeking equitable relief against the State. While at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, he first-chaired several trials and administrative hearings, argued substantive motions, and handled a diverse caseload involving some of the most important issues for State and local government at the time.
Dan received his B.S. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2007 and his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2010.
