Firm hires former chief attorney for Senate environmental panel
Washington of counsel George Sugiyama was mentioned in a March 22 Lawdragon article for joining Troutman Sanders’ Environmental and Natural Resources practice group.
Prior to joining the firm, Sugiyama was the chief minority counsel for the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, where he provided legal and policy advice on administrative law issues and focused on EPA oversight issues.
A March 21 Law360 article preceded the Lawdragon article, stating Sugiyama will focus on compliance counseling and auditing, permitting, regulatory development, litigation and enforcement defense matters at Troutman Sanders.
“George is one of those rare attorneys who combines both substantive depth and strategic vision,” said Margaret Campbell, co-chairwoman of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources practice group, in the article. “His background at EPA, on the Hill, and as a practicing law firm attorney will add tremendous value for clients.”
