Georgia Lawyers for the Arts Honors Troutman Sanders with Firm of the Year Award, Appoints Several Attorneys to Boards

07.25.18

ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP has received the “Firm of the Year” award from Georgia Lawyers for the Arts (GLA) for its pro bono volunteer efforts. In addition, several attorneys were invited to serve on boards associated with the nonprofit. Partner John Bowler was appointed to the GLA Board, associate Susan Russell joined the GLA Advisory Board, and associate Charles Thimmesch joined its Georgia PATENTS Advisory Board.

“The association between Troutman Sanders and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts goes back many, many years,” said partner Mike Hobbs, a frequent volunteer with GLA. “We are deeply honored by this award and equally gratified that our attorneys have been appointed to help lead an organization that serves so many of the artists, musicians, filmmakers and writers in the State of Georgia.”

GLA provides legal assistance and educational programming to artists and arts organizations through its network of over 1,000 volunteer and member attorneys. The Georgia PATENTS program assists solo inventors, non-profits and small businesses with finding patent agents and attorneys to help file patents on a pro bono basis.

“Troutman Sanders is proud to support the meaningful work of Georgia Lawyers for the Arts,” said partner Bob Edwards, who heads the firm’s Pro Bono Committee in Atlanta. “As a firm, we believe in improving the communities in which we live and work – through GLA, our attorneys are able to give back to the local arts community.”

Each year, Troutman Sanders’ attorneys dedicate thousands of pro bono hours in support of non-profits, military veterans, children, the wrongfully accused, and so many more.
