Troutman Gains Former US Attorney for Georgia's Middle District
The addition of White Collar and Government Investigations Practice Partner Charlie Peeler to the firm's Atlanta office spawned an article in the Daily Report – " Troutman Gains Former U.S. Attorney for Georgia's Middle District."
White-collar defense and government investigations "has been a hot area, and it's going to be more and more busy," Peeler predicted, because abuses will likely arise from the federal government's massive stimulus programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I think there will be stepped up investigations into how the money is used,” he added. Federal investigations that follow the money that the government has paid out can lag years behind the payouts, Peeler said. "I think there will be increased activity for a long time in the government space over stimulus money."
At Troutman, Peeler said he will represent companies and individuals under civil and criminal investigation, help companies that have been victims of cyberattacks and data breaches and represent companies in general business litigation, as he did for years before his tenure as a U.S. attorney.
