Troutman Pepper Counsels BW Digital in Hawaiki Cable Acquisition
NEW YORK – Troutman Pepper advised BW Digital Pte. Ltd – an affiliate of BW Group Limited – and international counsel Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance, with respect to United States law and regulatory aspects of BW Digital’s acquisition of 100% of Hawaiki Submarine Cable Limited Partnership and International Connectivity Services Limited (Hawaiki). The transaction has now been consummated, following the successful issuance of all necessary regulatory approvals. In the United States, the transaction was reviewed or approved by the Federal Communications Commission (the FCC), the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and the Committee on Foreign Participation in the U.S. Telecommunications Sector (Team Telecom).
The Hawaiki Submarine Cable is a cross-sectional fiber optic cable between the United States and Oceania (which links 15,000 km between landing stations in Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Hawaii, and the West Coast of the U.S.) and has become a critical infrastructure asset in the region.
