Jonathan Kenney is an Associate in the firm’s Financial Services Litigation practice, with a focus on representation of national clients in federal and state court. Jonathan’s principal areas of practice include class action litigation, consumer law, business disputes and commercial litigation. Jonathan has particular expertise in defending financial services companies in litigation under various federal statutes and regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Truth-in-Lending Act (TILA) and Regulation Z (Reg Z).

Jonathan’s practice is primarily focused in West Virginia where he has defended clients in hundreds of cases against claims under the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act (WVCCPA) in both state and federal court. Jonathan has tried cases before West Virginia juries and has successfully argued various motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss and motions for judgment on the pleadings. Jonathan has successfully argued that the WVCCPA should be interpreted in line with the FDCPA and has been successful on appeal before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

Jonathan’s clients range from Fortune 100 corporations to start ups, allowing Jonathan to effectively work with in-house legal departments as well as business leaders.
