Julie Hoffmeister is an associate in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice, with a primary focus on Financial Services Litigation. Julie is part of the firm’s national practice defending consumer-facing companies of all types in defense of individual and class action claims, including claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). Julie has been counsel to companies defending individual and class action cases in many states, including Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Nebraska, Missouri, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, and Tennessee.

Julie graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where she served on the University of Richmond Law Review. In addition, Julie interned during her third year of law school with the Honorable Henry E. Hudson, United States District for the Eastern District of Virginia in Richmond. Before joining the firm, Julie served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James R. Spencer, Senior United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia in Richmond.

  • Currently serving as counsel for national business research and risk management services company in FCRA and DPPA nationwide class actions and single-plaintiff FCRA cases.
  • Currently serving as counsel for national background screening company in various FCRA individual cases and class actions in both state and federal court.
  • Currently serving as counsel for a credit repair company in various nationwide TCPA individual and class action matters.
  • Currently serving as counsel for an electric utility company in an individual TCPA case.
  • Currently serving as counsel for an automobile dealer in a state court defamation matter.
  • Served as counsel for a national bank in a TCPA putative class action that was successfully resolved on an individual basis.
  • Served as counsel for major bank in federal court putative class action under the UCC; case resolved through individual settlement after successful preliminary motion.
