Labor and Employment Partner Joins Troutman Sanders’ Portland Office

PORTLAND – Román Hernández has joined Troutman Sanders LLP as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice in Portland. Hernández comes to the firm from K&L Gates LLP.

Hernández is experienced in the defense of employers against claims filed by former, current and prospective employees for allegations of discrimination, harassment, constructive discharge, wrongful discharge, and for alleged wage and hour violations in both state and federal courts, including class action litigation. He provides general employment and labor advice to employers of all sizes related to employment policies, practices and labor issues, in addition to commercial litigation representation.

“Román is a respected employment litigator and adviser whose specific experience in wage and hour class and collective action lawsuits is a strong complement to our practice,” said Tony Jones, chair of the firm’s Specialized Litigation Department.

“We welcome Román to our growing Portland office,” said Lara Skidmore, managing partner of the firm’s Portland office. “In addition to his strengths as an employment litigator, he is a skilled commercial litigator with an extensive practice, and we look forward to working with him.”

Over the past three years, Troutman Sanders has added nearly 20 lateral partners on the West Coast and now has nearly 100 lawyers practicing in Portland, San Diego, San Francisco and Orange County.

“Troutman Sanders is a great fit for my practice and clients, and I look forward to working with the team in Portland and across the country to benefit our clients,” Hernández said.

Troutman Sanders’ Labor and Employment practice handles a wide range of labor and employment issues, including litigation and dispute resolution, class and collective action litigation, traditional labor law, employment counseling, government claims and investigations and immigration. Attorneys advise on OSHA, wage/hour and employment-discrimination class actions, ERISA litigation, OFCCP issues, restrictive covenants, and collective bargaining agreements, among other areas.

Hernández received his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School.
