Partner Joins Troutman Sanders’ Multifamily Housing Finance Practice in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – September 27, 2017 – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Keith Jones has joined the firm’s Multifamily Housing Finance practice as a partner in the Charlotte office. He comes to the firm from Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.

Jones’ practice focuses on commercial real estate finance with significant experience representing lenders, master servicers and special servicers in connection with the servicing of securitized loans. His work has included servicing multifamily housing loans made by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Jones has substantial background with loan assumptions, defeasances, partial collateral releases, REMIC opinions and other servicing matters.

“Keith’s breadth of experience in commercial real estate finance, particularly his specialization in the servicing sector, makes him a great strategic fit for our clients and our Multifamily Housing Finance team,” said Mark Shiembob, Executive Committee member.

“We are excited to have Keith join our growing team in Charlotte,” said Walter Fisher, managing partner of the firm’s Charlotte and Raleigh offices. “Our clients’ needs align with Keith’s practice area, making him an ideal fit for the team.”

Troutman Sanders’ Multifamily Housing Finance practice is the premier nationwide practice representing lenders in the multifamily finance industry. The practice focuses on counseling mortgage banking clients in the origination, sale and servicing of loan transactions sold to secondary market investors — primarily Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as other financial institutions and securitization program participants.

The practice has handled nine of the largest multifamily-apartments portfolio financings between 2012 and 2017, each of which had an aggregate loan amount of more than $1 billion. In addition, the practice has handled more than 9,100 loan and servicing transactions in the last five years, with a volume of more than $133 billion — including transactions in every U.S. state and the District of Columbia.

“Troutman Sanders’ commitment to providing exceptional client service, as well as the firm’s national reputation in multifamily housing finance, fit well with my practice,” Jones said.

Jones received his Bachelor of Arts from Queens University and his Master of Business Administration and J.D. from Wake Forest University.
