Payments and Other Financial Technology

In recent years, the growth of technologies in the online and mobile payment landscape has had an immense impact on the financial industry. We advise clients on cutting-edge regulatory and legal issues and have experience with all aspects of the industry, including prepaid cards (e.g., stored value, payroll and gift cards), mobile payments, merchant acquiring, card issuing, e-commerce and payment networks, in addition to traditional financial operations and other emerging payment technologies.

We handle the full spectrum of payments and related financial technology issues and agreements that play a role in the financial institutions and payment processing industries, from development, service, software and outsourcing agreements to bank sponsorship and back-end processing agreements. Our lawyers have significant regulatory experience and were involved in drafting Georgia’s Merchant Acquirer Limited Purpose Bank Act and accompanying regulations. We also offer corporate strategy, capital raising, and merger, acquisition, and joint-venture counsel to the payments and broader financial technology industry.

Drawing upon the expansive resources of our firm, we have developed an interdisciplinary team of lawyers with extensive experience addressing the complicated framework of laws and regulations surrounding the payment processing industry. Our corporate, regulatory, intellectual property, litigation and data security lawyers work seamlessly across the firm to address complex payment systems laws. Our clients include prepaid card issuers, payment processors, data/analytics companies, merchant processors, customized credit providers, global retailers and independent sales organizations.
