Troutman Sanders Attorney Jasmine Hites Named to Portland Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 List

PORTLAND – The Portland Business Journal has named Troutman Sanders LLP energy associate Jasmine Hites to its 2018 Forty Under 40 list honoring young professionals for their outstanding work and community impact. Hites was nominated by client Avangrid Renewables, a leading sustainable energy company.

“I am deeply honored by Avangrid’s nomination,” Hites said. “It is incredibly humbling to be named alongside such a dynamic, enterprising panel of individuals, and I am so appreciative of my client.”

Hites represents clients in the energy industry with a focus on regulatory, project development and commercial issues. Her practice includes the representation of electric utilities and independent renewable energy developers in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and state administrative proceedings.

“I have worked closely with Jasmine for many years and thought she was the perfect candidate for this award and recognition,” said Erin Kester, manager of regional market structure and policy at Avangrid Renewables. “She is a supremely knowledgeable attorney who goes to great lengths to represent the interests of her clients. I’ve been impressed that despite her demanding work load, she still manages to find the time to give back to the community, and to engage in unique and creative hobbies.”

In addition to Hites’ accomplished legal career, she has volunteered her time and made an impact in and beyond Portland. In 2015, she received Troutman Sanders’ Harold E. Masback III Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono Award. She previously had received the Small Business Legal Clinic Pro Bono Champion Award from Lewis & Clark Law School.

Troutman Sanders’ energy practice has counseled utilities and other energy clients about changing regulatory challenges since the 1920s. The team handles matters across sectors, including renewable energy, nuclear, oil and natural gas, energy construction, electricity and energy storage.
