Troutman Sanders Expands IP Litigation Practice with Addition of an Experienced Team in New York

NEW YORKJoseph ("Joe") Diamante and Charles ("Chuck") Cantine have joined Troutman Sanders LLP as partners in the firm’s Intellectual Property (“IP”) practice in New York. They previously practiced at King & Spalding.

Diamante has extensive experience litigating cases involving all forms of intellectual property and unfair competition issues. He has led more than 30 trials and has been recognized in the industry for obtaining four of the top 10 largest IP verdicts from 2010 to 2015. He also assists technology companies with developing, protecting and commercializing their IP assets.

Cantine began his career as a patent agent and patent prosecution attorney before transitioning to IP litigation where he has significant first chair trial experience. He also counsels clients on the development and protection of international and domestic IP portfolios involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, research and development activities, and commercial products and strategies.

“Joe and Chuck are strong additions to our IP practice,” said John West, chair of the firm’s Business Litigation Department. “They each bring extensive experience with all forms of IP issues, and their considerable background working with technology companies will greatly benefit our clients."

Since March 2018, Troutman Sanders has added five partners in New York, including Hayden Baker (Capital Projects and Infrastructure), Avi Schick (Government Investigations, Compliance and Enforcement), Jack Thomas (Litigation and Insurance and Reinsurance), and Diamante and Cantine (Intellectual Property). The New York office has more than 100 attorneys with diverse transactional, litigation and regulatory practices.

“We are pleased to welcome Joe and Chuck to our growing office,” said Craig Kline, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “Their clients appreciate them for their strategic and highly effective legal advice, as well as their focus on client care. With their addition, we further enhance our litigation bench strength and expand our intellectual property offerings, both in New York and nationally.”
