Albemarle acquiring rival, Rockwood Holdings
Troutman Sanders was mentioned in numerous July articles, including the The American Lawyer, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Law360 and others - about Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based chemical maker Albemarle acquiring its rival, New Jersey-based chemical company Rockwood Holdings in a $6.2 billion deal. Both companies produce lithium, catalysts, bromine and surface treatment chemicals. Albemarle will pay for $50.65 in cash and 0.4803 shares for each share of Rockwood Stock. The deal is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval, but is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
Richmond partners John Owen Gwathmey, David Carter and Richmond associate Doug Boyle advised Albemarle in the deal.
