Calif. ‘Made in USA’ Class Actions Ain’t Going Away
New York partner Karen Lederer and associate Eric Unis had their article – “ Calif. ‘Made in USA’ Class Actions Ain’t Going Away” – published in Law360 on September 28. It discusses how California amended its one-of-a-kind “Made in USA” statute to make it more consistent with federal requirements for “Made in USA” claims.
“In part, the amendment is aimed at stemming the tide of class actions filed in California concerning ‘Made in USA’ claims,” the duo state. “While the amended law will ease the compliance burden on businesses that label their products sold in California as ‘Made in USA,’ all businesses must remain mindful of their obligations under both California and federal law when making these claims as they will likely continue to be a magnet for class action litigation and regulatory scrutiny.”
