E-cigarette production to U.S. from China
Richmond partner Bryan Haynes was mentioned in numerous May articles – Reuters, Sino-US, freenewspos – about U.S. e-cigarette manufacturers moving their manufacturing operations from China to the United States. Most of these moves are happening in response to concerns over quality issues and tighter federal regulations.
In recent months, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has proposed rules that would require e-cigarette makers that want access to the U.S. market to register with the FDA and fully disclose the ingredients with their products.
"As a general rule, the FDA regulation will require more control over the manufacturing process,” said Bryan, who represents e-cigarette companies. He added that more companies plan to move production to the United States because it “could make compliance easier.”
