ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP partner Mike Hobbs, a 2008 graduate of Leadership Atlanta, has been named Chair of the Board of Trustees of the organization, which is one of the oldest sustained community leadership programs in the nation. In addition, Corporate partner Paul Fancher was one of 89 local leaders named to the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2019, and Energy associate Miriam Archibong was among 58 individuals named to the LEAD Atlanta Class of 2019.
“I am honored to serve as Chair of the board for the upcoming service year and am proud that my Troutman Sanders colleagues have been named to Leadership Atlanta’s and LEAD Atlanta’s 2019 classes,” said Hobbs, whose tenure as board chair will run from June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019. “In this role, I will work to advance Leadership Atlanta’s mission in the community and help in planning the organization’s 50th anniversary celebrations that will occur next year.”
Leadership Atlanta sponsors a signature nine-month, executive-level program. Approximately 85 established leaders are chosen each year to represent a broad cross-section of metro Atlanta. Through retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours, members explore critical community issues, examine themselves as leaders and build relationships of trust and mutual understanding. Fifteen Troutman Sanders attorneys have participated in the program. Managing Partner Steve Lewis also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
“We are proud to continue Leadership Atlanta’s tradition of bringing together the region’s most influential, engaged, and creative leaders dedicated to working together for the greater good," said Pat Upshaw-Monteith, president and CEO of Leadership Atlanta.
Established in 2004 as an initiative of Leadership Atlanta, the LEAD Atlanta program is an intensive eight-month leadership development and community education program targeted at promising young professionals in Metro Atlanta. Through personal and professional development and broad exposure to the community, LEAD Atlanta aims to equip young leaders early in their careers with the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective leader committed to the common good.
