The Pro Bono Effect: Preventing Homelessness
Washington of counsel Kurt Jacobs had this article – “ The Pro Bono Effect: Preventing Homelessness”– published in the Washington Lawyer in October. In it, Kurt discusses his pro bono efforts with the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program’s Landlord Tenant Resource Center and its Advocacy & Justice Clinic – two places where he helps prevent homelessness for many of Washington’s low-income residents.
“Preventing homelessness is of enormous importance to my clients and their children, and it gives me profound satisfaction as a lawyer,” Kurt said. “Keeping a roof over their heads enables clients to retain their basic human dignity. It makes it easier and more likely that they will keep or obtain employment, pursue GED degrees and other educational goals, and provide stability and a good education for their children.”
