Troutman Sanders Expands Financial Services Litigation Practice
Richmond, Va. – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Jon S. Hubbard has rejoined the firm’s Financial Services Litigation practice as Of Counsel in the Richmond office. He rejoins the firm from Capital One’s Litigation Department, where he was a Director and Assistant General Counsel.
At Capital One, he represented the company on a national basis in mortgage litigation, including consumer class actions, individual lawsuits, and a variety of issues involving RMBS, repurchase demands, loan servicing, and mortgage insurance. He helped to develop and implement strategies for handling mortgage consumer litigation across the United States, including California and other western states. He oversaw litigation and compliance issues related to new and evolving mortgage origination and servicing laws and regulations. In addition, Hubbard monitored industry developments and compliance with reporting and disclosure requirements.
Hubbard’s in-house and private practice experience has focused on representing clients in the financial services industry, including banks, lenders, mortgage companies and loan servicers, in consumer litigation, complex contract and insurance disputes, pre-litigation analysis and resolution, and regulatory compliance.
“We are very pleased to have Jon back at the firm,” said John West, managing partner of the firm’s Richmond office. “The experience he gained at a major financial services company, including with regard to mortgage litigation and consumer class actions, as well as his significant industry knowledge, will be of great value.”
From 2006-2011, Hubbard was a senior litigation associate at Troutman Sanders, focusing on financial services litigation, mortgage litigation, ERISA and insurance litigation, and federal and state consumer law litigation, regulation, investigations and counseling.
“Jon is a very experienced financial services litigation lawyer,” said Becky Ross, chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “The perspective he will bring to litigation and compliance matters, because of the strategic role he played in-house, will be of tremendous benefit to clients in the current enforcement environment.”
Hubbard received a B.A. from James Madison University and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Richmond.
“I am excited to rejoin Troutman Sanders,” said Hubbard. “The firm’s national reputation in the financial services litigation area provides an excellent platform for me to continue to expand my practice and to be involved in cutting-edge matters.”
