Troutman Sanders Wins Three M&A Atlas ‘Deal of the Year’ Awards
ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders LLP has received three M&A Atlas “Deal of the Year” awards from the Global M&A Network. The firm also was named among finalists for the U.S.A. M&A Law Firm of the Year - Mid Markets award based on its expertise, execution track record, team leadership and client service.
Client Alterra Power Corp. won the Renewable Energy M&A Deal of the Year award; client Mangrove Equity Partners, L.P. took home the U.S.A. Private Equity Deal of the Year (Size Range: Below $50 million) award; and client The Brink’s Company received the U.S.A. Corporate M&A Deal of the Year (Size Range: $500 million to $750 million) award. The independent awards use a point-indexed scoring method based on specific deal criteria. Winners will be recognized at a Nov. 29 gala in New York.
Renewable Energy M&A Deal of the Year | Americas Energy + Services
Troutman Sanders’ client, Alterra Power Corp. (Alterra), won the Renewable Energy M&A Deal of the Year award for its $1.1 billion acquisition by Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. (Innergex). Alterra is a diversified renewable power generation company based in Canada, and Innergex develops, acquires, owns and operates run-of-river hydroelectric facilities, wind farms, solar photovoltaic farms and geothermal power generation plants.
Troutman Sanders LLP served as U.S. counsel to Alterra, with a team led by partners Tom Rose and Shona Smith (Corporate) that included Cliff Sikora and Dan Larcamp (FERC), Mitch Portnoy (HSR), Megan Rahman (GICE), and Mark Goldsmith (Tax).
U.S.A. Corporate M&A Deal of the Year | Size Range: $500 million to $750 million
Troutman Sanders’ client The Brink’s Company received the U.S.A. Corporate M&A Deal of the Year award for its $520 million acquisition of Dunbar Armored, Inc. The Brink’s Company is the world’s premiere provider of cash management, secure logistics and security solutions and, at the time of the acquisition, Dunbar was the fourth largest U.S. cash management company.

Client Mangrove Equity Partners, L.P., a lower middle market private equity firm, received the U.S.A. Private Equity Deal of the Year award for its acquisition of RC Rasmussen Corporation, a Seattle, WA-based provider of niche marine equipment.
