Ira Genberg Joins Troutman Sanders in Its Atlanta Office
ATLANTA - The law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Ira Genberg as a partner to its Construction practice group in Atlanta, Ga.
Genberg comes to Troutman Sanders from Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, where he was head of the Construction Law and Litigation Section of the firm for nearly 20 years.
At Troutman Sanders, Genberg’s practice will focus on working with owners and contractors on complex commercial, industrial, power, hotel, university and civil projects around the world.
Throughout his legal career, Genberg has represented major corporations in complex, high-stakes litigation throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. He also has been instrumental in leading the effort to draft several comprehensive, industry-wide construction agreements.
Genberg has been chosen as one of the nation’s 75 most outstanding lawyers by a nationwide survey of counsel at Fortune 1000 companies, and has regularly been selected to The Best Lawyers in America; the Chambers USA Ranking Guide (highest tier) of America’s Leading Business Lawyers; Outstanding Lawyers of America; Georgia’s Super Lawyers, and Top 100 Georgia Super Lawyers; Georgia’s Legal Elite; the International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, as well as Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.

Genberg’s 1998 novel Reckless Homicide has received numerous accolades, sold more than 200,000 copies, and was a best American novel nominee for the Edgar Allen Poe Literary Award in 1999. Donated
royalties from the sale of the book helped create a new program with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society that helps those with cancer, ALS and other life-threatening diseases cope with legal problems, such as disputed insurance coverage,
Social Security benefits and estate planning.
Currently, Genberg serves as a trial instructor for EmoryUniversity’s LawSchool’s Trial Techniques Program, as well as general counsel for the Associated Owners & Developers (AOD) association, the nation’s largest group of commercial and industrial owners of property.
Genberg received an A.B., magna cum laude, in 1969 from RutgersUniversity, Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. in 1972 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was Editor of the Moot Court Board and the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award.
