Troutman Sanders Partner Justin Nahama Named to Daily Transcript’s Top 40 Under 40 List
San Diego – The Daily Transcript has named Troutman Sanders LLP litigation partner Justin Nahama to its 2018 40 under 40 list of top young business professionals creating impact in San Diego County. Nahama was nominated for his distinguished legal career, military service and community involvement.
“I’m extremely grateful to be nominated by Troutman Sanders and recognized alongside such accomplished individuals creating meaningful impact,” Nahama said.
Last September, Nahama joined the firm’s Business Litigation practice as a partner. He had previously spent several years as an associate at Mintz Levin. Before entering private practice, Nahama served as a JAG prosecutor in the U.S. Marine Corps, trying numerous cases to verdict and advising senior military commanders on military-justice matters. As Chief Prosecutor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, he prosecuted high-profile felony cases, including over 50 courts-martial involving homicide, crimes against children, financial crimes, and fraud in a combat zone.
Nahama remains very active in the veteran community and has implemented programs to advise veteran entrepreneurs on starting and growing their businesses. He serves as pro bono general counsel for The Honor Foundation, helping Navy SEALs and other Special Forces personnel successfully transition from active duty.
“Justin has been a true partner from the launch of our Mission in San Diego in 2013,” said Joe Musselman, CEO and founder of The Honor Foundation. “He was an early adopter, believer, and connector for The Honor Foundation that has led to significant and meaningful relationships which have gone to impact our Mission in immeasurable ways. He is an all-star member of our family, and we are deeply grateful for all he has done to support the men and women of the Special Operations Forces community.”
Recently, Nahama instituted Troutman Sanders’ “Office Hours” in San Diego to counsel entrepreneurs from The Rosie Network, a non-profit that serves military spouses and transitioning service members. He also provides pro bono assistance to Cammies & Canines, a non-profit combatting San Diego’s homeless veteran challenges and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial.
Nahama is known for taking the time to deeply understand his clients’ personal and professional interests. He first developed a relationship with client CrossFit while on active duty. At that time, he competed in the worldwide “CrossFit Games” where his team achieved three top-five finishes. Today, Nahama actively protects the CrossFit Inc. brand and community of 14,000 affiliate gyms by handling numerous litigation matters.
