Two Troutman Sanders Partners Named to Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Lawyers List
RICHMOND, Va. – Savoy Magazine has named Richmond-based partners Ashanté L. Smith and Ashley L. Taylor, Jr. to its 2018 Most Influential Black Lawyers list. According to the magazine, the list features African-American men and women who have been recognized for their legal leadership and expertise in national and global-leading corporations.
Ashanté L. Smith is a partner in Troutman Sanders’ Multifamily Housing Finance practice and specializes in nationwide lender representation for multifamily and commercial loan transactions intended to be securitized in the secondary market. Smith has extensive experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac single project loans as well as multiple project portfolios, having acted as lead counsel in more than $3.4 billion of agency loans in 2017 alone.
Smith plays an active role in the firm’s hiring and mentoring of diverse attorneys through positions on its Women’s Leadership and Growth Network Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and Hiring Committee. Read her full write-up in Savoy Magazine.
Ashley L. Taylor, Jr. is a partner in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice. His primary focus is on federal and state government regulatory and enforcement matters involving state Attorneys General, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. He serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Taylor focuses his practice on consumer protection issues and defends companies against a variety of enforcement actions brought by state and federal regulators, and on claims, including marketing and advertising representations, statutory disclosures, unfair or deceptive acts or practices, and data security breach response.
