Atlanta Business Chronicle Recognizes Troutman Pepper Partner Shelli Willis with 2022 Women of Influence Award
ATLANTA – Annette Michelle “Shelli” Willis, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Real Estate Practice Group, has been named among Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2022 Women of Influence. Each year, the publication honors businesswomen who have become trailblazers in their fields and led strong growth in their companies while also giving back to their communities.
Honorees were selected from more than 200 nominations. A six-person committee, which included members of the editorial team, community and past honorees, evaluated the nominees to choose the 21 winners.
“I am honored to be recognized among such a strong group of women leaders who have made remarkable impacts on their companies, professions, and communities,” Willis said.
Willis leverages an in-depth understanding of real estate and finance to help her clients efficiently navigate risk, resolve conflict, and achieve successful transactions. Her clients benefit from the business-minded perspective she brings from both outside counsel and in-house experience. She has advised both lenders and real estate investors through the life cycle of real estate investments for decades, including deals involving distressed debt.
Willis also partners with corporate leaders to build, or further develop, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs in areas such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). Drawing from her work with boards, executives, and other senior leadership, she helps to integrate these programs into her clients’ corporate missions, strategic planning, and public disclosures. She is particularly experienced with the built environment and real estate industry.
Willis is active in her local and professional communities. A fellow of the American College of Real Estate Attorneys (ACREL), she serves on its Programs and Membership committees, which have been charged with increasing diversity to bring more women and racial diversity into the organization. She also serves as an Advisory Board and Capital Markets Council Member of ULI Atlanta, and serves on the nonprofit boards of Ser Familia, the North Carolina Coastal Federation, and the Trust for Public Land, which she will chair beginning in 2023. Willis is a frequent speaker and an Adjunct Professor in Real Estate Finance at Emory University School of Law.
At Troutman Pepper, Willis serves on the firm’s Diversity and Innovation Committees, working to advance DE&I both within the firm and greater industry and supporting novel programming and initiatives. She is a founding member of Troutman Pepper’s Women’s Forum, the firm’s first affinity group, which sponsors events and groups to support women attorneys.
The 2022 Women of Influence will be honored during an Oct. 13 celebration event at the Atlanta History Center.
