Pepper Hamilton Adds Accomplished IP Litigators in New York Office
Pepper Hamilton announced today that Howard J. Shire and Paul M. Richter Jr. have joined the firm as partners in its Intellectual Property Department, resident in the New York office.
Mr. Shire has more than 30 years’ experience as a skillful litigator who protects and defends his clients’ products and IP rights against infringement. He also has an active trademark counseling and prosecution practice and is an experienced arbitrator, mediator and member of the International Trademark Association’s Panel of Trademark Mediators. Mr. Richter has more than 20 years’ experience in litigating patent and trademark cases in district court and before the International Trade Commission. He also regularly handles inter partes review and reexamination proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and actively guides his clients in the development and prosecution of global patent portfolios. Shire and Richter both spent most of their careers at Kenyon & Kenyon and join Pepper from Andrews Kurth Kenyon.
They further bolster Pepper Hamilton’s national intellectual property litigation practice, which represents a wide range of corporations and private businesses, from Fortune 100 to venture capital-driven and other growth-oriented companies.

Mr. Shire received a B.A. from Brown University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.
Mr. Richter received a B.S., cum laude, in chemical engineering from Tufts University and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
