Pepper Hamilton will be sponsoring the Pennsylvania Bar Association's (PBA's) 29th Annual Minority Attorney Conference taking place in Philadelphia, PA on October 12-13, 2017.
The 29th Annual PBA Minority Attorney Conference, themed “Advocacy & Fundamental Rights for Changing Times,” is a premier two-day educational conference that provides tremendous networking opportunities, advanced education seminars and CLE credits focused on leading topics of interest to the legal profession and legal community.
Program topics include the current status of efforts to repair, repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act; criminalizing immigration through executive order; environmental justice issues impacting minority communities; “stop and frisk” policies and police brutality; the effects of cognitive bias and criminal records; and an ethics program on the legal risks and pitfalls of political engagement. The networking reception will be held on Thursday evening, including an opportunity to socialize with friends and enjoy light refreshments. On Friday, a highlight of the conference will be the luncheon and the keynote address by prominent Pennsylvania State Senator Arthur L. Haywood III.
