Troutman Pepper Adds Longtime Governor's Counsel as Atlanta Partner
Troutman Pepper Partner David Dove was quoted in the Law360 article " Troutman Pepper Adds Longtime Governor's Counsel as Atlanta Partner"
Dove said, at five years, he has served longer in the executive counsel position than the average stint of about three years. "There are only a few of us that have gone longer than that," he said in an interview. "It was always my intention to return to the private sector."
He said Troutman was the best fit for his economic development and regulatory practice because of its "national platform across multiple markets" as well as its Washington, D.C., presence and available expertise in practice groups related to his practice "which will be a part of how I market myself."
He said he has dealt with a range of legal issues during his time in the governor's office, from environmental to regulatory. "My qualifications are unique," he said.
In the area of economic development, for example, Dove said he can be a resource other firms can't offer potential clients. He cited his experience with Georgia's recruitment of such large employers like automaker Hyundai.
"It's good to have counsel for that company that can help navigate (state incentive offers)," Dove said. "Having a counsel that helps navigate that as well as navigate any other ancillary issues that might be environmental, zoning or other matters that may come up with one of these projects, that's obviously helpful to the … client."
